Lipolyse Laser For Men Too

10 June 2008

These days, it's not just women who slave over maintaining the body beautiful. Men are just as likely to want to stay looking firm and young –as any woman who's had to battle with their man for bathroom time can confirm.

Lipolyse Laser - Not just a girl thing

News earlier this year from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) also suggests that men in this country are increasingly turning towards cosmetic surgery to turn back time. Indeed, according to the BAAPS, the number of men having cosmetic procedures has risen by more than 300 percent.

In an attempt to lose their love handles and halt middle-aged spread, today's males are going in for liposuction in ever-increasing numbers – in 2007, liposuction was the second most popular procedure for men after rhinoplasty, with 18 percent more men having liposuction in 2007 than the year before.

What many men may not realise, however, is that the latest innovation in liposculpture involves the laser. For instance in France many top cosmetic surgeons are turning their attentions to this new, non-invasive and therefore safer way of reducing unwanted body fat. And now, the first Lipolyser laser – which heats up and breaks down fat cells and tightens up the skin (something traditional liposuction can't do) – is here in the UK.

Lipolyse Laser's common uses

The Lipolyse laser is a new addition to London's Devonshire Medical Clinic, home to leading French aesthetic facial and body rejuvenation expert, Dr Georges Roman. Ideal for treating common male problem areas such as tummies, love handles and double chins, the tightening effect is achieved by stimulating the fibroblasts, structural cells within the deep layer of the dermis that are involved in the production of collagen. This collagen boost lasts for months and results in skin that becomes increasingly tighter, smoother and younger-looking.

And since laser treatment is non-invasive, the only anaesthetic required is a local one, which means unlike traditional liposuction, there's no post-operative pain, surgical dressings or lengthy recovery times – all of which will appeal to men who want to get back to work as quickly as possible.

Lipolyse Laser vs SmartLipo

Laser liposculpture isn't, however, an entirely new concept: a system called SmartLipo has been available in the UK for more than a year. However, the Lipolyse laser uses a different, more powerful wavelength – meaning better results in a shorter length of time.

Unlike the SmartLipo system, the Lipolyse laser also has an on-board computer that makes the laser more versatile and allows each treatment can be tailored for each individual patient and for the different areas of the body being worked on: for instance, the skin on the upper arms may require more tightening, whereas the hips and tummy may need extra fat reduction.
